Books by Dr. Nagam H. Atthreya
We have shared the books written by him. Read them and feel free to use them.
Dr. Atthreya, was a pioneer trainer in speed reading In India. His favourite anecdote on the importance of speed reading was about John F. Kennedy, when he was elected President of the United States. Mr. Kennedy realised that as President, he would have to read and sign several documents. Hence, in the interim period between the elections and him taking oath as President, he took a class in Speed reading.
He was a voracious reader, with an extensive home library, and therefore personally appreciated the need and benefit of speed reading.
In order to make reading easier and faster for the reader, he had his unique individual style of writing. Most of his books were written in a way that each line contained a thought and the eye could span the whole line. The information was absorbed as a picture rather than read as a sentence. Hence, the nerve impulse which connected sight and thought, was much faster than the sequence of seeing, reading and understanding.
Dr Atthreya wrote on a wide range of subjects, which reflected his diverse and current interests, and fresh thinking. Many of them are timeless. These books were written in an era when literary agents were unknown in India. The books were also written by a person who did not feel comfortable with the aggressive marketing styles of literary agents.
All his books were well received. His first book “Public Speaking and Committee meetings” became a hand book in the hands of stage shy young executives of the 1960s. His second book, “Read faster Read Better”, the title of which describes the content also saw several editions. The Book “You and I in business”, which had international acclaim, went in to the sixth edition, and is out of stock!!
