Dr. Atthreya was a pioneer in management training in India. He always liked to be referred as an educator rather than as a trainer. In a deeper sense, the two have very different connotations.
Dr. Atthreya conducted and organised the first residential Executive Leadership Training programme in 1956. It was unique in its concept and idea. The programme lasted for two weeks in Matheran (a hill station near Bombay). It was attended by many of the then doyens of industry. As a memorabilia, we have shared the brochure.
The syllabus focused on attitudes, techniques, skills and information relating to Communication; Creative thinking, Decision Making and Problem Solving; Waste Elimination and methods improvement; Psychology of Introducing Changes, Master Salesmanship, Economic Education , Developing Personnel and Motivating Them; Art of Delegation , Co-operation and Control; Executive time conservation ; Modern Management Fundamentals; Executive Health; Human Relation Skills and Business leadership. His unique note taking system, facilitated an active learning process for the participants. Click here for his note taking system.
All these subjects remain current. The modus may have changed, but many of the concepts and thought processes are applicable even today.
Since then, thousands of management professionals had had interactions with him as participants attending his educational programmes on managerial skills, attitudes and strategies.
Through this section, we share with you some of the training content that he developed .
One thing that was unique with Dr. Atthreya as a trainer, was no two programmes were alike. He felt the pulse of his audience and their needs, and tailored the session as it progressed. That was one of the reasons he could never build a franchise over his training programmers, because they did not follow a rigid syllabus or a set pattern.
Many of the slides in this section – contain only phrases- mere thought provokers. It is for the user to develop on it.
